In addition to the usual improvements and bug fixes, this new version brings 3 major features that will improve your workflow when creating 2D animations: the direct import of Photoshop layers as cells within the tool, bookmarks to navigate the interface more quickly, and new cell map optimization functions.   <\/p>\n<h4><strong>PSD file import<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>With the previous versions of SpriteStudio, importing a PSD file was done through the external <em>PSDtoSS6<\/em> utility, which then required you to manually add the cell map and animation files you generated to your SpriteStudio project.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the <em>PSD Import<\/em> command of the <em>Project<\/em> menu will automatically add these files to the standard folders in your current project (you can also decide to create a brand-new project, of course).<\/p>\n<div style=\"max-width: 700px; margin: 0 auto;\">\n<div style=\"width: 800px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-5954-1\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/SpriteStudioPSDImport.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/SpriteStudioPSDImport.mp4\">https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/SpriteStudioPSDImport.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All the options that were included in <em>PSDtoSS6<\/em> are still available, allowing you to tweak the import process as you wish.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/PSD-Import-Settings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"552\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/PSD-Import-Settings.png 680w, https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/PSD-Import-Settings-300x244.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Bookmarks<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>When projects get bigger, navigating between the different assets can become cumbersome and time-consuming.<br \/>\nThis new feature allows you to register animations, parts, cells, and keys as bookmarks by dropping them on the top bar of the main window.<\/p>\n<p>They will appear as buttons you can later click on to instantly jump back to these assets while creating your animation.<br \/>\nOnce the bookmarks are created, you can rename them and organize them into folders.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BookmarksCropped.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1434\" height=\"684\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5970\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BookmarksCropped.png 1434w, https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BookmarksCropped-300x143.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BookmarksCropped-1024x488.png 1024w, https:\/\/blog.criware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BookmarksCropped-768x366.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1434px) 100vw, 1434px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Cell map optimization<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Three options have been added to the Cell Map Optimization: the removal of unnecessary transparent areas, the merging of cells with exact pixel matches, and the resizing of solid color cells to 1&#215;1 pixels.<\/p>\n<p>These new options will be particularly effective when importing sprite sheets containing cells spaced at regular intervals.
